Cartilage is not a lobe with a firmer feel, it is a different problem. There is no soft tissue to swallow the back of an earring, so a clutch sits proud and gets knocked by a hairbrush, a phone and a pillow; and the hole runs through gristle rather than flesh, so it complains longer when it is knocked. What gauge are DAILI cartilage earrings?
The cards on this page print 20G and 18G, and the gauge is the thickness of the post rather than the size of the front. A cartilage hole made at 18G takes 18G back; a 20G post in it will turn, and turning is the thing a cartilage piercing likes least. Where you are unsure, ask the studio that made the hole.
Why do DAILI cartilage earrings have flat backs rather than clutches?
Because a clutch has two wings and a rim and there is nothing behind an upper ear to bury them in. The flat disc lies against the skin, so a hairbrush and a pillow slide over it instead of catching. It is also faster to clean round, which matters in a placement that stays tender for longer than a lobe does.
Can a DAILI cartilage earring be worn in a lobe?
