Three post shapes do the same job three ways. The L-shaped post is a straight length with a right-angle bend: it drops in, the bend turns under the rim of the nostril, and it holds by geometry. It is also the one that walks its way out on a towel, and that is the reason they are sold in sets. A corkscrew is a longer curl that follows the inside of the nostril and comes out only when you unwind it. A straight bone post has a bead pressed onto the end that has to be pushed past the hole itself: the most secure of the three, and the one that argues most on the way in.
Fronts are small on this page and the millimetres matter more than they look. One and a half millimetres is a point of light that people notice only close up; two millimetres is the size most nostril piercings are photographed with; three is a stone that is clearly a stone from across a table. All of them sit on 20G or 18G posts, and 20G is the thinner of the two: most nostrils are pierced at 20G or 18G, and the sets carry both so the first order does not depend on remembering which.
