A hoop is bought by its inner diameter and returned when that number was guessed. Six millimetres is a cartilage size: it sits tight against a helix and reads as a ring of metal rather than a circle. Eight is the size most people mean by a small hoop in a lobe. Ten and twelve start to hang and swing, which is what you want in a first lobe hole and not what you want in a second one that has to sit under it. Measure the gap inside a hoop you already own, not the metal round the outside, and order that figure.
The hoops here close in one movement. A hinged hoop swings open on a hinge at one side and clicks into a notch at the other, so nothing comes off in your hand; a huggie is a small hinged hoop cut to sit close to the ear rather than to hang from it. The cuff is the odd one on this page: it is a heavy curl of metal that grips the rim of the ear and needs no piercing at all, which makes it the piece to try if you like the look of a stacked ear and are not ready to have another hole made.

What size DAILI hoop earring should you buy for a helix?
Six or eight millimetres. A helix is a shallow fold of cartilage and a hoop bigger than eight tends to stand away from it and catch on hair. Measure the inner gap of a hoop that already fits, and if you are between two sizes take the smaller for cartilage and the larger for a lobe.
Do DAILI huggie hoops stay closed?
They close on a hinge that seats into a notch, and you can feel and hear it go. If a hoop opens in wear, it was not fully seated: press the two ends together until the click rather than until they touch. The hinge is the part that wears, and a hoop that has stopped clicking is a hoop to replace.
Is the DAILI ear cuff a real earring?
It is a cuff, not an earring: it clamps onto the rim of the ear and there is no post and no hole. It sits where a helix piercing would be and comes off before bed. Worn for hours it will make itself felt, the way any clamp does, so it is a piece for an evening rather than for a week.
