The back is the decision on this shelf, and it is worth taking slowly. A flat back is a disc that lies against the skin behind the ear, so there is nothing standing off it to catch on a pillow or a collar; it is what people move a sore helix to, and it is why half this shelf exists. A screw back threads onto the post and stays where it is put, which matters in a hole you cannot see. A threadless post is held by the bend in a pin: it comes apart in your fingers when you want it to, and that is either the best thing about it or the reason you will lose one, depending on how you are with small objects. The hoops are hinged or huggie-fastened, sized six to twelve millimetres across the inside, and the smaller ones are cartilage sizes rather than lobe sizes. Everything on this shelf is jewellery for a hole that has already healed; what a fresh piercing asks for is a different question, and the Association of Professional Piercers answers it.

Questions about DAILI earrings
What a flat back does that a butterfly clutch does not, the difference between a screw back and a threadless post, and which of these can be slept in.
Can you sleep in DAILI flat back earrings?
That is what the shape is for: there is nothing standing off the back to press into the skin when you lie on that side. The front still has height, so a six-millimetre stone is still a six-millimetre stone under your cheek. If sleeping is the reason you are buying, take the three and four-millimetre fronts.
What is the difference between a DAILI screw back and a threadless post?
A screw back has a thread cut into the post and the front turns onto it, so nothing moves until you turn it back. A threadless post has no thread: the end carries a pin bent a few degrees, and the tension of that bend holds it in the tube. Threadless is faster and comes apart in your fingers; screw is the one that stays put in a hole you cannot see.
What size DAILI hoop fits a cartilage piercing?
Six or eight millimetres across the inside for most people. A hoop larger than eight tends to stand away from the fold of the ear and catch on hair and jumpers. A lobe takes eight upwards comfortably. The card prints the inner diameter; a photograph does not settle it.
Does DAILI make an earring for an ear with no piercing?
One: a cuff that clamps onto the rim of the ear and needs no hole. It sits where a helix piercing would and comes off when you get home. Like any clamp, it makes itself felt after a few hours, so it is an evening piece rather than an everyday one.
